Fixik is an independent freelance platform for small jobs, in development, that lets people use their skills, experience and knowledge to start a small business of their own, get their own page and work with it. The project is called Fixik (External link) and can be found at fixik.de. The phase currently under way is the integration of artificial intelligence into the platform.

Why now: AI and the labour market

Artificial intelligence is moving into working life all over the world. It is being introduced in large and small production plants, in private business as well as in the public sector. The reasons are obvious: tasks that people used to do can increasingly be automated. That is one side, and Klariq reports on it regularly, with sources and without exaggeration.

The other side is less pleasant. Many professions are shrinking or changing fundamentally, and people are losing their jobs. Those affected do not suddenly have less to offer. Skills, experience and knowledge are still there, often built up over many years. What is missing is a framework in which they can turn into work again.

This is where Fixik comes in. The idea behind it is simple: if machines take over more and more, people need ways to take their own abilities into their own hands. A small business of one's own is such a way. But it is only a workable way if the hurdles to getting started are low. Someone who is good at something should not first have to build a website, manage appointments in spreadsheets and draft contracts from scratch before the first piece of work begins.

I deliberately give no labour-market figures here. Reliable figures belong in articles that disclose their sources. Should Klariq publish figures on the subject later, they will appear with their source in the list of sources and in the article itself.

Who Fixik is for

Fixik is aimed at people who are good at something or know something and want to turn it into a small business of their own. These can be people who have lost, or could lose, their work because of the use of AI. They can equally be people who have long played with the idea of working for themselves and did not know how to begin.

What connects them can be summed up in three things:

  • They bring skills, something they can do in practice.
  • They have experience, built up over years in a profession or out of long-standing interest.
  • They have knowledge that can help others.

Fixik is therefore explicitly meant for small businesses, not large companies. Anyone who wants to work alone or in a small circle should not feel that a whole administrative apparatus is needed for it. The aim is that nobody has to master technology to get started: the platform is meant to take over the technically demanding parts.

What the platform offers

The platform is designed to bring together what is needed to start and run a small business day to day. This includes:

  • A page or website of your own. Everyone gets a presence of their own for their skills, without having to build it from the ground up. This is the visible part: it shows what someone can do.
  • Appointments (meetings). Conversations and meetings are arranged within the platform, so that scheduling does not run through scattered messages.
  • Coordination. Both sides agree on what they have in mind. Whoever offers something and whoever takes it up should end up with the same understanding of the matter.
  • Adjustment of plan and contract. Plans and contracts can be adjusted within the platform when something changes. This matters more in daily life than it sounds: a collaboration rarely runs exactly as it was written down at the start.
  • Access to legal and bookkeeping support. Questions about legal matters and bookkeeping come with every business. For these, too, there is a route to specialists within the platform.
  • A personal AI assistant for every user – in development. It is meant as a helper in organising the business: with appointments, coordination, plan and contract. It is not an adviser in the legal or tax sense.

This list is an overview of the plan, not a promise of functions at a particular date. Which parts are available when, and in what form, depends on the stage of development (see below).

This point needs a clear explanation, especially in Germany. Under the German law on legal advice (RDG), legal advice may only be given by persons authorised to do so; under the German tax advisory law (StBerG), tax advice may only be given by authorised persons and bodies. Fixik itself therefore gives neither legal nor tax advice, and it does not provide legal or tax information.

What is meant is something else: access to support and advice from specialists within the platform. Anyone with a legal or bookkeeping question should not have to search laboriously for someone, but find the way to qualified specialists straight from the platform. The advice itself is given by these specialists, on their own responsibility.

I describe this so carefully because this line cannot be moved. A text about Fixik should not give the impression that software replaces the lawyer or the tax adviser.

How it works

The process can be described in five steps. It is a simplified picture that shows how the individual building blocks fit together:

  1. Put your skills into words. It starts with the question of what someone can do and wants to offer. The content of the page of your own grows out of skills, experience and knowledge.
  2. Get your own page. The platform provides the frame: a page of your own where your skills are visible, without any technical background being required.
  3. Arrange appointments. Anyone interested in the offer can arrange an appointment (meeting). The conversation is where an interest turns into a concrete collaboration.
  4. Coordinate, and adjust plan and contract. Those involved settle what they plan to do together. If something changes, plan and contract are adjusted instead of being altered silently or forgotten.
  5. Bring in specialists when needed. If legal or bookkeeping questions arise, the platform gives access to specialists.

In the end there is what every small business is about: people work with their skills and earn money with them. No platform can guarantee that this succeeds or to what extent. Fixik does not promise any income. It is meant to make getting started easier and to take some load off in everyday work, nothing more.

The role of AI in Fixik

Because Klariq is a resource about artificial intelligence, the question of where AI appears in Fixik belongs here too. The honest answer at the moment is: it is being integrated into the platform right now. The phase is under way, and its result is not settled yet. The direction is settled: a personal AI assistant for every user, currently in development. It is meant to help organise the business, that is, with appointments, coordination, plan and contract. I do not say when it will be available. Which further functions will come out of it and what they will look like, I will describe only once it is settled and I can show it.

One limit applies where AI is involved as well: the assistant is an organising helper. Legal and tax advice stay with the specialists authorised to give them, as described above.

State of development

Fixik is an independent platform in development. It is currently going through its tenth development stage: the integration of the personal AI assistant. I deliberately give no launch dates, figures or plans for the time afterwards – what is not settled should not stand here as fact. For legal and accounting questions Fixik works with partners who support existing small and medium-sized businesses as well as future founders.

Anyone who wants to follow the progress will find the current state of the platform at fixik.de (External link). I will add news here as soon as it is settled and can be backed up.

Who builds Fixik

Fixik is created, developed and integrated by nuvexiq (External link). You will find more projects there as well: an online store, websites and the Oko SaaS CRM.

In summary

Fixik is a platform in development for people who want to start a small business with their skills, experience and knowledge. It is meant to bring together a page of their own, appointments, coordination, adjustment of plan and contract, and access to legal and bookkeeping support from specialists. A personal AI assistant for every user, currently in development, is to be added. The advice itself is given solely by the specialists authorised to give it. The occasion is the change in the labour market caused by artificial intelligence. The current state: AI is being integrated into the platform right now. More at fixik.de (External link).
